Tuesdays: Style Club

April 10 – June 12, 2018, 4-6 pm
Free!

Free After Three takes inspiration from Yayoi Kusama’s exhibition Infinity Mirrors; specifically the artist’s iconic fashion style and visual aesthetic. Style Club will explore vintage collecting, thrift flipping, pattern on pattern design, styling, alterations and end with a participatory fashion show! Led by local designers, stylists and artists including Andrea Lalonde from Nouveau Riche, Vanessa Fischer and Emma Doyle.

Vanessa Fischer is an award winning costume designer and wardrobe stylist based in Toronto. Designing for theatre, commercials, music videos, television and film, she loves the magic that comes from working with different textiles and costumes. Vanessa loves to create the ideas people see in their dreams. She also loves to sing and dance.

Andréa Lalonde graduated from the Nova Scotia College of Art and design with an interdisciplinary degree. She splits her time working with vintage and visual arts, fascinated by ways those come together. Lalonde owns Nouveau Riche vintage, a collection and pop up project. She previously worked as a vintage clothing buyer in Montreal for many years and as an assistant for a film and television costume collection. Over the last 15 years, Andréa has worked as an artist-educator at museums and artist-run centres including the ROM, the AGO, the Design Exchange and Oakville Galleries.

Emma Doyle is a designer working in fashion, film and interiors. She spent a decade in London, UK, designing for independent, luxury womens and menswear labels, including Louise Gray, Nasir Mazhar, Future Classics and Michael van der Ham. Her work with these brands has been exhibited at London Fashion Week, Fashion East and internationally within London Showrooms in Paris, New York, LA and Hong Kong. It has appeared in Vogue, ID, Dazed and Confused and has been sold world wide in retail spaces such as Harvey Nichols, Selfridges, Dover Street Market, Opening Ceremony and Net-a-porter. Since moving back to her much-loved Toronto 2 years ago, Emma has worked in costume for television and film on The Handmaid’s Tale, and as a textile artist on Star Trek: Discovery. This winter she launched her own clothing label, BEST TIME. Emma studied Fashion at Ryerson University in Toronto and Central St Martins in London.
